DANUBE CRESCENT, ABUJA STREET WHERE GEJ,TAMBUWAL, 24 GOVERNORS AND EX-IGS HAVE MANSIONS

Danube Street located off Ibrahim Babangida Way in Maitama Abuja is a special street. From the outside the street does not look special.  Once you enter the street, one thing you cannot but notice, especially early in the day and till late afternoon, is the number of Policemen attached to many of the houses. While some have two, others have as many as six. This is where some of those who really matter in Nigeria have their own homes. Not their guest houses, not their contact places but where they come around to relax, out of people's prying eyes.
The ELITES gathered that President Goodluck Jonathan is among those that have their homes in this exclusive area. Aside the president, not less than twenty four serving and former Governors have homes here. Also, two former Inspectors-General of Police as well as three former Chief Justices of the Federation are also believed to have homes here also. The Speaker of the House of Representative, Aminu Tambuwal, his predecessor, Dimeji Bankole as well as many other top political office holders, past and present have homes in the same area. The ELITES gathered that the attraction for Danube Street by these prominent public office holders, is the fact that it is populated by some of the most powerful  people in Nigeria. Hence, most other prominent government officials are keen on having their homes in this area.
Some of the mansions here have fences that even dwarf the houses they protect and you hardly see anyone come in or out of the houses except the Mobile or regular policemen that guide the houses. In the nights, especially when there are high level political activities in town, the street however looks busy.
