Two weeks ago, one of Nigeria's first set of female architects, Dada Marquis clocked 70. To mark the event, the society matriarch hosted a classy party at her private residence in Victoria Island. Few days later, Marquis got married to her lover, Gaby Yadua.
The Lagos society really went gay at the news of the wedding ceremony between Architect Dada Marquis and Gaby Yadua, a popular socialite.
Sources disclosed to The ELITES that the invitation card for the Marquis' 70th birthday occasion had indicated that it was going to be a double celebration. The card announced the marriage of Dada and her “Lover Boy”, Gabby.
So it was that on Sunday, 16th February, 2014, Lagos presented its old social circle with old money and nostalgic presence of the in crowd as it became clear that
grandmother Dada Marquis, at the ripe old age of 70, had found true love in the company of grandfather and popular socialite, 76-year old Gabby Yadua. One could observe how Lagos society gleaned to rejoice with the couple on their union after Marquis' 70th birthday anniversary on St. Valentine’s Day in her Victoria Island residence. One could also observe the glimmer of hope in the eyes of many senior ladies present which seemed to say, “My time will come too”.
Gabby Yardua, whose name always causes a stir on account of its similarity to the late General’s and late President’s name, Yardua, is from Edo State, and he is a dominant figure in Lagos social circles. Now retired, he had held a high managerial position in Guinness Nigeria Plc and at a time when beer allocation was one of the best business advantages in Lagos. He was the toast of Lagos city. Being good looking, charming, ebullient and, from the grapevine, well endowed, he was the toast of many Lagos society ladies. His last affair was with former Lagos State Permanent Secretary, Deorike Durosimi-Etti.
Marquis is a well-respected society matriarch and successful architect. She is from the Marquis family of Ita Adao Marquis family of Lafiaji, Lagos. Late Juju music maestro, Tunde Nightingale had waxed a record laudatory of her late father, Januario with the popular song—"Onidodo, Oni Moin Moin"

Marquis married the late Dr Basil Onibuche, a prominent Lagos politician, but the marriage later floundered after a few children.
As the couple took to the floor with their friends, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey waxed lyrical with his many of his timeless hits. The bride's close friends, notably, Sisi Abah Folawiyo, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Ireti Asemota, Yewande Onileere, Yemisi Ransome-Kuti and many others were at the event to share in her joy.
