ISIAKA ADELEKE ATTACKS POLICE AFFAIRS MINISTER

Disaster was averted Tuesday night at an Osogbo hotel when former Governor of Osun state Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke attacked police affairs minister, Alhaji Jelil Oyewale Adesiyan who was in company of Senator Iyiola Omisore.

The minister who accompanied Omisore to the hotel for a meeting with electoral officials of the Peoples Democratic Party was reportedly attacked by Adekeke who accused him of using police to harass his supporters.

Eye witness in the hotel reported that police officers had early arrested some political thugs believed to be loyalists of Isiaka Adeleke . The former governor was said to have stormed the hotel to get the arrested thugs released and afterwards proceeded to the hotel room where the minister and senator Omisore were staying.

The former governor reportedly angrily banged into the room and made for the minister who was pleading for patience. Both Omisore and other leaders in the room were said to have appealed to Adekeke to no effect.

One of the leaders who attempted to draw Adeleke back from physically assaulting the minister was reportedly elbowed . It was learnt that it was at this point that security officials had to intervene by leading the former governor out of the room.

When contacted, the police Affairs Minister told our correspondent that he was shocked with the conduct of the ex- governor but that ” as a responsible official of government,he had to maintain his cool and allow peace to reign.

“The incident is unfortunate but it is a small brotherly disagreement . I have a duty to be peaceful even if my brother behaved strangely”, the minister said.
