RIPPLES OVER THE DEATH OF 78-YEAR OLD SOCIETY MATRIARCH, OLU OSHODI

When on Sunday, April 13, 2014, Madam Stella Olubunmi Odutola (nee Oshodi) had joined other Christians to celebrate the Palm Sunday, little did she know that it would be her last celebration. Three days later, she was found dead on her settee at her Omole Estate, Lagos residence. Her body was discovered by her nephew, Mr. Danmole, who, who after several futile attempts to reach her on phone, had gone to her home in Omole Estate and found her dead. 

The ELITES gathered that Mama Olu Oshodi’s death has caused a few ripples amongst her family members, and this has sparked suspicion from most Lagosians, as they are said to be claiming that she might have been murdered. The family is premising the basis of their suspicion on the fact that, three days before her death, Mama Olu Oshodi was at the Waka Club 1945 on Joseph Street, Lagos. She was said to have been in a gay and vivacious mood, hale and hearty, and chatting with her Mrs. Tola Sode and Pamela Omotilewa.

Sources disclosed to The ELITES that, two days before her death, Mama Olu Ohodi had sacked her driver for an intolerable malfeasance. It was gathered that the driver had been a source of embarrassment to her for bad behaviour, which she had tolerated because of her accommodating nature and he necessity to use the services of a driver. As at the time of filing this report, the driver is yet to be found.

Fondly called Aunty Olu by many people she associated with during her lifetime, the deceased was a prominent daughter of the Oshodi family of Lagos. Mama Olu Oshodi was the younger sister of ace politician and Lagos High Chief, Ms. Onikepo Oshodi. She was a trained and qualified senior Staff Nurse, who spent most of her working career as a Psychiatric Nurse. Mama Olu Oshodi is survived by four children. Her first marriage was to the late Pa. Yinka Odutola, a lawyer and the son of the late Chief Jimoh Odutola, the brother of the late business icon, Chief Adeola Odutola. Mama Olu Oshodi was also married to the late Chief Akin Sogbesan and the late Chief Sobo Sowemimo, the Jaguna of Egbaland.
