On Wednesday, April 2, Harbour Point, an event centre on Victoria Island, Lagos wore a grim look. The large cast of guests in attendance looked funereal. The occasion was the Service of Songs and Christian wake-keep for Mojisola Oyinade Aderoumubo Ogunsanya, the wife of Multichoice Nigeria boss, Dewunmi Ogunsanya. Moji passed away on Saturday, March 22, in Germany, after a protracted battled with cancer of the colon. She was aged 49.

Amidst tears and wailing, the remains of Mojisola were later committed to mother earth this morning. She was buried at her husband’s country home in Ikorodu town, Lagos State.

Moji’s husband, Dewunmi gave vent to emotions and wept like a baby during the Service of Songs and funeral ceremony. For Dewunmi, the death of Moji is a loss at many levels. It was the loss of his best friend, a sister, a mother, a confidant and a wife in every true sense of the word. Through the almost 25 years of their marriage, Moji remained a pillar of sincere affection, deep love, uncommon understanding and unwavering support for him and his pursuits.

Sources disclosed to The ELITES that Moji’s last days were characterized by grief and sorrow. The deceased was said to have informed her loved ones not to weep at the event of her death. On her deathbed, Dewunmi was reported to have vowed to take care of their four children and keep her memories alive in every way he can. It was gathered that the Multichoice boss, who had become shrunk with grief could not stand seeing life ebbing out of his wife, as she laid on her hospital bed. He was reported to have left Germany shortly before she took her final breadth.

The ELITES gathered that Dewunmi Ogunsanya expended enormous resources, in his bid to ensure that his wife got the best of treatment. Sources disclosed that, sensing that the end was near for his wife, Dewunmi was forced to speed up the completion of his new house in Ikoyi. Also, he ensured that Moji put the final finishing touches to the interiors of their home. Sources disclosed that Dewunmi was moved to take this decision because he didn’t want to move into their new home after his wife might have made her final exit.

Mojisola Ogunsanya was born in Lagos on the 13th of March 1965 to late Prince Dr Tayo Adesanya and Mrs Omolara Adesanya (nee Odukoya). She attended University of Lagos Staff School for her primary education and Methodist Girls High School Yaba, Lagos, for her secondary education.

Her childhood years were spent at the University Of Lagos where she grew up and blossomed as a teenager amidst friends and family in a secure and intimate campus environment where neighbours were just as close as family.

Then, she attended Brooke House, Market Harborough, Leicestershire in the United Kingdom for her A levels, where she met the love of her life Adewunmi. She returned to Nigeria in 1984 to study law at the University Of Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988.

She did her masters in International Law and Diplomacy at the University Of Lagos.

Moji started her legal career at the legal department of Prime Merchant Bank followed by Gateway Bank where she worked as Legal Counsel. She was committed to the practice of law and worked with the law office of Ukiri and Sasore, Ajumogobia and Okeke, following which she was appointed a Magistrate in the Lagos Judiciary, a position she held till her demise. She was a woman of integrity. As a Magistrate, Moji distinguished herself by the quality of her judgments through her industry. She was fair, meticulous and highly respected by her peers.

Moji was a devoted Christian and her faith in God was evident in her relationship with people and her community at large. Moji was witty and humorous. She was exceptionally gifted in the use of words and language which many found entertaining.

Moji’s loved ones described her as being extremely meticulous. Her home was always tidy and organized to perfection. She also loved cooking and traveling. Moji was entrepreneurial and managed to combine her professional life with her passion for jewelry and style.

Moji was a philanthropist and was passionate about orphans. She worked tirelessly with a few Motherless Homes and would visit the orphanages regularly. She contributed a lot of her time to them. Moji’s quiet philanthropy extended to people in need that she met in the course of her everyday life.

Moji was a stylish woman, and her elegance stood her out in the crowd.

A dedicated wife and a devoted mother, who raised four amazing children, all of whom did her proud, namely Adebusola, Fuad, Fadekemi and Aliyah. She had numerous friends and managed to keep a special bond with each one of them.
