COURT OF APPEAL REMOVES DOMKAT BALI AS TRADITIONAL RULER




Court of Appeal sitting in Jos, Plateau State capital, has ordered a former Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. Domkat Bali, to stop parading himself as the Ponhzi Taroh, the traditional stool of the famous Langtang people of southern Plateau.The court also said that he has no right to convene  a meeting of the Langtang traditional council. 
It was gathered that Bali was said to have been forced on the Taroh people by Governor Jonah Jang, when the state government single-handedly altered the gazette of the Langtang traditional council, to pave way for Bali’s ascension to the throne.

The judgment was a sequel to an appeal filed by Bali, the commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy affairs, attorney general of Plateau state and the Langtang Joint Traditional Council against the judgment of the Jos High Court, in a suit filed by the District Head of Langtang, Chief Nicholas Musa, District Head of Gazum, Mr. Joab Dadi and the Ponhzi Bwarat, Mr. Selchak Sambo, which nullified Bali’s nomination and installation as the Ponhzi Taroh.
In the judgment delivered by Justice Tijjani Abdulahi and concurred by two others on the appellate court, Justices Chioma Nwosu Iheme and Ibrahaim Shata Bdliya, and obtained by newsmen  the appellate court, affirmed the  judgement of the lower court.
The court faulted appellants for rushing to install Bali, when they weren’t aware of the asuit to stop the exercise.
