A couple of weeks back, one
of Nigeria’s most respected corporate titans, Segun Agbaje clocked 50. And
though, he chose not to have an elaborate celebration to mark the event, his
beautiful wife, Derin hosted a modest party for him in London. Agbaje is the
Managing Director of Gurantee Trust Bank, GT Bank.
Over the years, Agbaje, has
proved that he is a brilliant banker whose gift of discerning viable project is
enviable. As a pioneer
member of GT Bank, Agbaje has worked in almost all
groups in the bank; as deputy managing director, he was directly responsible
for the Institutional Banking Division which comprises Energy,
Telecommunications, Treasury, and Corporate Finance Groups.

Agbaje, the younger brother
of Jimi Agbaje, the popular Lagos governorship aspirant, holds a BSc
Accountancy degree from the University of San Francisco, California, and a
Masters’ degree in Business Administration from the same university.
Prior to joining GT Bank, Agbaje
worked for Ernst & Young, San
Francisco, USA, as a staff auditor. He was
appointed an executive director of GT Bank in January 2000 and deputy managing
director in 2002.
Segun Agbaje’s marriage to
Derin, the beautiful daughter of banking matriarch, Otunba (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin
Olakunrin, is blessed with a son.
