Gambians are outraged after controversial Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke honoured the invitation of President Yahya Jammeh of The Gambia on his 20th anniversary as president.
The 49-year-old Jammeh took the position through a military coup he masterminded on 22 July, 1994 after 29 years of civil and “democratic” rule.
A ten-day long celebration marking 20 years since the coming to power of the Gambian was concluded last week in the country.
Jim Iyke posted pictures of himself and President Jammeh on his Instagram page with the caption: “Wiv H. E Sheikh Prof. Alhaji Dr Yahya Abdul-Azziz Jemus Junkung Jammeh Babili Mansa. President of Gambia on the occasion of his 20th Anniversary. #BanjulChronicles #BurgeonForever”
Gambians took to social media to express their displeasure with Jim Iyke.
Commenting on Facebook after the story was posted by popular Gambian TV personality Fatou Camara, Gambians berated President Jammeh and the actor:
