Oyo State Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate for the 2015 general elections and the former governor of the state, Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, has named Kola Balogun, his former commissioner for commerce the director-general of his campaign organisation.
The former governor disclosed in a statement issued by his media aide, Abraham Ojo, in Ibadan on Friday that Balogun, an Ibadan-born politician, was chosen based on his loyalty, credibility and commitment to the cause of Alao-Akala.
He said in statement that the campaign committee would be inaugurated soon, noting that Balogun, an administrator and politician, was the former state auditor of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), national secretary, Congress for National Consensus (CNC) and a former Commissioner for Works, Commerce and Industry in the state.
In his reaction to the appointment, Balogun promised to use his new position to ensure victory for the party in the coming election, saying; “We have a good product in the person of Alao-Akala. He is a sellable and preferred candidate, whom the people of the state appreciated while in office.
Balogun also assured members of the campaign team and the people of Oyo State of a harmonious working relationship to ensure that the LP emerges victorious in the election.
