HOW REVERED ICON, PAPA CHRIS OGUNBANJO MARKED HIS 91ST BIRTHDAY (PICTURES)

One of Nigeria's most celebrated icons, Chief( Dr) Christopher Oladipo Ogunbanjo celebrated his 91st birthday in Lagos on Sunday, December 14, 2014. The event took place at his Ikoyi home. The event was graced by some prominent personalities, drawn from every facet of the Nigerian Social Establishment. It was a most fulfilling moment for  Ogunbanjo, who has made his mark as an industrialist, corporate lawyer and philanthropist. 

The son of a clergyman,  Ogunbanjo was born in Erunwon, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State on December 14, 1923. He attended Igbobi College in 1938 and obtained a degree in Law from London University in 1949. Later, he enrolled as a Barrister-at-Law and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1950. In 1960, he established Chris Ogunbanjo & Co. It is a leading law firm, with lawyers based around the world, who provides a comprehensive global service to national and multinational corporations, financial institutions and government bodies. For many years, it has been at the ore front of development in the legal arena. Among many other things, Ogunbanjo has always been described as captain of industry, baron of commerce, patriarch of the organized private sector and the doyen of commercial law practice. Described as an optimist, Ogunbanjo is a deep thinker and philosopher. He is one man, who believes that he must continue to make an active contribution to mankind. At 90, Ogunbanjo is Internet savvy . And he is one dandy and dapper dresser too. 

In 1953, Ogunbanjo married Hilda Adunola (née Ladipo). They enjoyed a most blissful marriage until August 2004, when Adunola died. Ogunbanjo holds many chieftaincy titles. Prominent among some of his titles are the Olotu of Ijebuland, the Larinja of Egbaland, the Gbadero of Lagos, the Lerinja of Egbaland, the Asiwaju and the Baba Oba of Ijebu Imusin and Baba Oba of Erunwon Ijebu.
