LAGOS: 10 GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATES STEP DOWN FOR AMBODE

Eight days to the gubernatorial election in Lagos, 10 candidates vying for the office have announced that they are withdrawing from the race and have called on their supporters to vote for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Akinwunmi Ambode.
In a statement released on Friday after a joint press conference, the candidates said they have “joined hands” with Mr. Ambode to give Lagos a deserving government.
“Without mincing words, we collectively as candidates of various political parties, have decided to join hands together with Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode of APC to give Lagosians a deserving government at this time,” the statement read.
“We unanimously give our unwavering solidarity to work together with Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode of the APC come 11th April 2015, slated by the Independent National Electoral Commission for gubernatorial election.
“We enjoin all our teeming supporters across the state to take this declaration and sound it loud and clear that Akinwunmi Ambode, is the candidate to take Lagos to the next level.”
The ten candidate who relinquished their gubernatorial ambitions are candidate Accord Party, Adeshina Buruji; Independent Democrats, Obadia Akinola; Action Alliance, Ishola Aregbesola; and Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, Babatunde Sarumi.
Others include the African People’s Alliance, Abiodun Oyegunle; KOWA Party, Victor Adeniji; All Progressives Grand Alliance, Adeshina Olayokun; New Nigeria’s People Party, Sesan Olatunde; the Citizens Popular Party, Sylvester Eze; and the Progressives People’s Alliance, Pauline Ojochide.
