Never say never when love is involved. For Fuji music icon, Sir Kollington Ayinla and his former wife, Queen Salawa Abeni (QSA), love conquers all. After many years of open accusations, bitter diatribes and name calling in audio tapes, the formerly estranged lovers are back in each other’s arms, talking and engaging each other.
Friends and family were overwhelmed with joy and admiration last Sunday when Alhaji Kollington Ayinla drove into the Recreation Centre, Epe, Lagos venue of the eighth day Firdau and befitting burial of the mother of QSA, Alhaja Memunatu Asabi Alidu, the grandmother of the children she had for the frontline Fuji musician.
With open arms and curtsey, QSA welcomed Kollington to the event attended by top Fuji and Apala artistes including Adewale Ayuba, Shefiu Alao, Atawewe and Musiliu Haruna Ishola among others. Kollington sat close to Salawa on the front row, and their body language confirmed intimacy as they talked, smiled at each other and exchanged Naira and Dollar notes. Kollignton Ayinla scored high in admiration when he stepped out to dance with QSA and sprayed her crisp Naira notes.
Musiliu Haruna Ishola and Shefiu Alao performed to the audience including Publisher, Global Excellence, Lord Mayor Akinpelu, businessman and top hotelier, Alhaji Olanrewaju Akanni popularly known as Lamex.
Salawa’s younger brother, Alhaji Adekunle Alidu was on ground to receive guests alongside QSA’s children.
