The latest entrant into the golden age club is Nkiru Anumudu, the undisputed goddess of the Lagos social establishment. Nkiru, the wife of Williams Anumudu, (aka Pa Willie), the billionaire and auto magnate who owns Globe Motors, clocked 5O on Friday, 16 June. Save for a modest dinner outing with her husband and four children in London, there was no elaborate celebration of the stylish society lady's entry into the golden age club.
Predictively too, her close friends were 'livid' with anger with her for bailing out on them by jetting out of town, so as to avoid being hosted to a party. However, upon her return to Nigeria, Nkiru's close friends decided to retaliate by hatching a surprise birthday party package in her honour. The gang of birthday 'coup plotters' was led by the trio of Ruth Osime, the Editor of ThisDay Style, Mo Abudu, the CEO of EbonyLife TV and Ekua Abudu, the famous lawyer, educationist and proprietress of Greenwood School, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi.
The ELITES gathered that Nkiru, who was kept in the dark of what was in the offing, was practically dragged out of her home to attend a casual outing. She was enveloped with shock when she walked into the venue of the party and was greeted with a shout of 'surprise', from the guests. The society goddess, who is fondly called Queen of the Castle, by her loved ones, was ushered into the golden club with so much love, adulation, mixed with fanfare, old skull vibes and of course, choice wine and champagne.
The surprise birthday party was strictly an all female affair. It was held at the home of one of Nkiru's friends. Notable among those who attended the party were Mo Abudu, Ruth Osime, Ekua Abudu, Debbie Oghene, Vivian Chiologi-Shittu, Ego Boyo, Grace Osime, Bola Ayeni, Deola Sagoe, Ndidi Anyaene and some others.
