Prince Supo Adetona

-How Prince Supo Adetona Died

Prince Abdul Rasheed Adesupo Adetona, the immediate younger brother of the Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona is dead. He was the only surviving male sibling of the revered monarch.
Prince Adetona died yesterday, July 17, at his 3, Tokunbo Omisore street, Lekki Phase one residence in Lagos. He was aged 71, and has been buried according to Islamic rites this afternoon.
Prince Adetona was the founding President of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria, BRIPAN.
Until his death, Prince Adetona was a chartered accountant and a member of the defunct Hope Family, who during the 1999 general elections, pulled out from the then Alliance for Democracy, AD, to joined the All Peoples Party, APP.
A family source revealed that he was hale and hearty yesterday before the news of he died this morning. “He just slumped yesterday morning and died”, said a family source.
Ironically, Prince Adetona’s death coincided with the 20th anniversary of his mother’s death.
One of his friends, who does not want his name in print said he spoke with him yesterday for over an hour, only to learn about his death  this morning.
“Prince’s death was still a shock to me,we spoke for over an hour yesterday and he explained how he planned to remember his mother, who clocked 20 years that she died today. He even planned to pay for a full page advertorial in some newspapers and we talked about many other things and just last night, I was told that he had died, just like that, is that how someone dies? “, the old man said.
An Islamic organisation, Quareeb  has approached the family  for a programme this weekend at Ijebu Ode,which the group planned to use to mark the 20th  anniversary of the monarch’s mother.
Prince Supo Adetona  was a devoted Muslim in his lifetime. He also   supported the cause of Islam  both in Nigeria  and overseas.
He is survived by a wife and  a son.
