If every Nigerian guilty of Oscar Wilde’s offences were to be clamped into jail, there will be a surprising exodus from Lagos. Despite the imposition of jail time by the Nigerian government on perpetrators of homosexual acts, homosexuals have taken over certain Lagos nightclubs. They are mostly very young guys who brazenly display their sexual preference without a care in the world.
Major nightclubs patronised by them include some popular clubs on the Island. Visit any of these clubs and you will see two guys kissing and smooching in full public glare – a situation which many have explained as a desperate attempt by homosexuals to achieve social acceptance and legitimacy by reverse psychology and in the face of all odds.
