- Says '"I Am So Proud Of Him "
On Thursday, July 31, the Agip Recital Hall of the Muson Centre, Lagos, yesterday, played host to notable Nigerians from the political, business, academic and movie sectors, when young filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, launched a book version of his award-winning flick, The Figurine. It was not a run-of–the–mill event, judging by the stance associated with poor reading culture. But the presence of many prominent dignitaries gave it the glitz, comparable to any A-list event.
Packaged by Relentless Media, in conjunction with Golden Effects Services, the event was also attended by Prince Samuel Adedoyin, foremost industrialist, patriarch of the Nigerian society and Chairman of Doyin Group of Companies.
Adedoyin, who is Kunle Afolayan's uncle gave a speech that evoked emotions from some of the guests. He revealed that he had wanted to go into commodity business with his brother, the late Adeyemi Afolayan (Ade Love) while they were growing up. According to the Agbamu, Kwara State born prince, Ade Love decided to opt out, and thereafter, went into the movie making business. Adedoyin further disclosed that although, he helped to finance some of Ade Love's films, he was shattered when he died in the midst of his booming career. The foremost industrialist said he was happy when his nephew, Kunle agreed to work with him at his bank, City Express Bank, but his joy gave way to worry when he later informed him he was going into movie making. However, his worry soon evaporated when Kunle, through his works, began to show that he was in the industry to make a difference and an impact. Prince Adedoyin confessed to the crowd that he weeps whenever he sees or hears people talk about the pace-setting impacts that his nephew is making within the movie industry in Africa.
