EBONYI 2015: GOV ELECHI ANOINTS HEALTH MINISTER, ONYEBUCHI CHUKWU AS SUCCESSOR

Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State has announced that the Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu is the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate for the 2015 general election and his successor as the next Governor of the State. 

The Governor made this known during a meeting at the Government House, Abakaliki which lasted over six hours with members of the state PDP caucus, lawmakers, stakeholders and youth leaders across the 13 local government areas of the State in attendance.

The meeting provided the platform for all interest groups to air their views over the lingering governorship position which was zoned to Ebonyi south senatorial zone, specifically, Afikpo North LGA where Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu hails from.

All the stakeholders from the area attending the meeting reportedly resolved that all sons and daughters of Ekumeyi who are interested in the position of governorship should shelve such ambition in the collective interest of the state.

 According to a source at the meeting, Governor Elechi was said to have adopted Chukwu, after an in-depth search and therefore requested the Minister to make himself available for the governorship position in the 2015 general election as a consensus candidate.


According to feelers, the Governor who chaired the meeting said zoning the governorship slot to the South was due to the immense contributions of late Dr. Akanu Ibiam in the state creation as he hailed from the area, Unwana Afikpo LGA of the state.
