TV DIRECTOR BEATEN BY LAWMAKER'S SUPPORTERS IN OYO

The director of engineering of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) Mr. Akinniyi Akinlabi was on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 beaten up by thugs allegedly loyal to an unnamed member of the Oyo state house of assembly.
The lawmaker had organised an empowerment program for members of the public in the the BCOS exhibition ground.

Trouble was brewed when Akinlabi refused the supporters of the lawmakers to connect electricity from the electricity pole to the premises without due authorization from the corporation’s authorities.

Akinlabi’s manhandling prompted protests from members of the  Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU), barricading the premises of the station which coincidentally was to play host to the inauguration of the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) press center by Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

Yanju Adegbite, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the BCOS pleaded with his staff to report the matter to the governor and allow peace to reign.
