Ambode, Tambuwal, TY Danjuma, Others At The Memorial Service For Business Icon, George Stavros Coumantaros


The memorial service for Mr George Stavros Coumantaros, the founding father and Chairman Emeritus of Flour Mills of Nigeria PLC (FMN), was held in Lagos yesterday, Friday, December 2, 2016.
Courmantaros passed on peacefully in his sleep on Monday, 17th October 2016, in Athens, Greece, at the age of 94. He was a visionary and dynamic leader, who founded Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc in September 1960. The company pioneered flour milling in Nigeria when its first mill was commissioned in Apapa in 1962. Today, the Apapa milling complex has grown to become one of the largest single site mills in the world. Due to Coumantaros’ passion and absolute commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth and development, FMN has been positioned as the foremost food and agro- allied group in the country.
George Coumantaros, a rare breed, will be sorely missed by Shareholders, Directors, Management, Employees and Customers of Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc for his vision, inspiration, dynamism, forthrightness, courage and passion which laid the foundation for “The FMN Dream”.
