Five years after the tragic
death of his wife, Timi Alaibe, former Managing Director of the Niger Delta
Development Commission (NDDC), appears to be done with gathering his equilibrium. He is giving getting married again a serious consideration. Alaibe’s wife, Alaere Augusta died of lung cancer in January 2009 in
London. She was the founder of Family Re-orientation
Education and Empowerment (FREE), an NGO designed to help the women of the
Niger Delta region resolve the development dilemma confronting them and also
help them become literate and empowered.
Since his wife
died, Alaibe has had his hands full with fulfilling his many obligations. He has
been busy training his five children, and he even gave out the first daughter
in marriage. Alaibe, who is the former
Special Adviser on Niger Delta Matters to President Goodluck Jonathan,
contested and lost in the gubernatorial seat in Bayelsa State in 2012.
Sources disclosed to The
ELITES that during the early months after Alaere’s demise, Alaibe confided in some close
friends that it would be a while before he considered getting married again.
Alaibe actually hinted that he might get married after five years. Well, it has
been five years since his wife passed, and Alaibe is said to be considering making
good the promise he made to his friends. A lot of beautiful ladies are reported
to be jostling to be the next Mrs. Timi Alaibe. Save for Agbani Darego, the
former Miss World, Alaibe has not been linked with any lady. He even came out
and denied dating Agbani and explained that they were cousins. But those who
knew the level of intimacy between them rubbished his explanation. They
wondered how Alaibe, who is from Bayelsa State could be related to Agbani, who
is from Abulema, Rivers State. His close friends and associates are now waiting,
with bated breadth, to see the woman that will eventually win his heart.
