A few years ago, when General Alexander Ogomudia (rtd) held sway as Chief of Defence Staff, Lara, his beautiful wife was running things in the social circle. She savoured her husband’s position with so much relish. Everywhere she went then, she had a horde of soldiers as her security details to administer to her every whim. Then, she had Lavally, one of the most talked about shops on Awolowo road, Ikoyi, Lagos where she sold luxury unisex items, and Lavally Konsults Limited, a financial management firm based in Lagos.
Lara also served as the National President of the Nigeria Army Officers’ Wives Association, and later President, Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association.
Moreover, Lara had many friends, who took delight in massaging her jumbo-sized ego. Today, all the hype and hoopla about Lavally have simmered down, and neither is the proprietress visible on the social radar. Many of those who used to worship the ground she walked, now snigger behind her, saying that she forgot that power is transient. While some people say she has relocated to her husband’s country home in Isoko, Delta state, some people say she has completely withdrawn into anonymous cocoon with her husband’s retirement from the military.
