Deziani Allison Madueke, the Minister of Petroleum and the longest serving
minister in President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, is no doubt, a very
powerful woman. She is so influential that the ill wind that would have removed
many from their posts, has not in any way, ruffled her feathers. However,
Allison-Madueke has some funny past and of recent, which she has consciously dissociated
herself from. Lately, tongues have been wagging over how and why she left two
years out of her official curriculum vitae, especially since these years were
spent in a higher institution in Nigeria.
Sources disclosed to The ELITES that between 1974
and 1976, Allison Madueke was a student of the Federal School of Arts and
Science Mubi, now Federal Polytechnic Mubi. Curiously, none of her
official records ever include this vital piece of information. It was gathered
that the Petroleum Minister might have resorted to hiding this fact because she
did not make any of her A- Level papers as she left the school having failed
the three science subjects.
According to competent sources, among who were Allison-Madueke’s
classmates and colleagues at the institution, she was a fun-loving girl of
sorts, back in those days. It was gathered that she spent most of her time with
her then boyfriend whose name was given as, Valentine Nwandu, and she was
always in the company of Henry Ajudua, the elder brother to 419 king pin, Fred
Ajudua.
Perhaps, Allison-Madueke is not too proud of her
escapades, and she doesn't want to be reminded of her past, what most people
find difficult to accept is why she cannot spare thirty minutes to receive her
former colleagues. Sources disclosed that Allison-Madueke has repeatedly
rebuffed every attempt by members of her alma mata to pay her a courtesy visit.
Even when the Permanent Secretary Ministry of
Defence, Alhaji Samaila Aliu, a former student of School of Arts and Science contacted
her about the association and informed her of their plan to pay a visit and
fete her at the Command Guest House, Allison-Madueke, reportedly, turned down
the move. Observers have always asked why in all her publicised bio data, no
mention is made of Allison-Madueke, attending any school other than her
university education and postgraduate programmes.
