WHY GODWIN EMEFIOLE REDEPLOYED CBN DEPUTY GOVERNORS

In what may be his first major step at taking control, as part of his determination to professionalise the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and to make it people-oriented, Godwin Emefiele, the new Governor, has approved the redeployment of his deputies.
A statement by Isaac Okoroafor for the Director of Corporate Communications on Wednesday, said as part of the redeployment, Alhaji Suleiman Barau, in charge of Corporate Services Directorate, now takes over the Operations Directorate; while Dr. Kingsley Moghalu returns to to the Financial Systems Stability (FSS) Directorate from his present position as DG Operations.Meanwhile, Adebayo Adelabu, who replaced Babatunde Lemo, who retired from the bank in December after two terms five years each, moves from Financial Systems Stability (FSS) to Corporate Services. Dr. Sarah Alade, who acted as CBN Governor, between February 20 and June 3, 2014, when she handed over to Emefiele as replacement for Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, however retains her position as the Deputy Governor, Economic Policy Directorate.

According to the statement, “these redeployments, which take effect from Monday June 23, 2014, are expected to contribute to the Bank’s vision of being the Model Central Bank delivering Price and Financial System Stability and promoting sustainable Economic Development.”

Although the statement was silent on it, It was gathered that there were also changes at the directorate cadre, as some of the directors have swapped positions as part of the ongoing re-organisation.
