Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Adamawa State from the All Progressives Congress.
Ribadu, a presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria in 2011 has been rumoured to join the ruling PDP but has now confirmed his exit from the main opposition party.
A member of the executive committee of the PDP in Bako, Ribadu’s ward in Yola South Local Government Area, disclosed that the sparse anti-corruption chief has been registered as a member of the party.
Ribadu is expected to declare his intentions to run for the position of governor in the 11 October bye-election in the state.
It would be recalled that Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had released time table for the election to replace impeached governor Murtala Nyako. Nyako was impeached by the State Assembly last month.
