OAU RATED BEST VARSITY IN NIGERIA, 10TH IN NIGERIA





Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, in Osun State, has been ranked the best in the country and 10th in Africa, trailing South African, Tanzanian and Egyptian universities including the University of South Africa, which top the list; University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, which is 4th; Cairo University, Egypt which ranked 7th, among others.

The latest ranking of Africa’s top higher education institutions, which was provided by the 4 International Colleges and Universities, 4icu, was recently uploaded on the organisation’s website.

The 4icu is an international higher education search engine and directory reviewing accredited universities and colleges in the world, including 11,160 colleges and universities, ranked by web popularity, in 200 countries.

In Nigeria, apart from OAU, the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Akoka, which comes second on the list was ranked 24th on the continent, and it is followed by the University of Ibadan, which only makes the 33rd in Africa.

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, University of Ilorin, Kwara State, and the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, in Ogun State, ranked 5th, 6th and 7th respectively while the Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, ranked 8th in the country.

The Covenant University, which is the only private institution in the country to make the list only ranked 87th on the continent, and  is followed by the University of Benin, Edo State and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, which are both 88th and 93rd in Africa respectively.
