Oba Elegushi, a former Special Assistant to
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is making appreciable efforts in making the event a classy
affair with a strong bearing of royalty and pomp. Predictably, the preparation
for the event has thrown close friends and family members of the Elegushi
family into a frenzied state. The co-ordination of the coronation ceremony will
be handled by a top rated event planner, while the guests will be entertained
by King Wasiu Ayinde, K1 D Ultimate.
The late Oba Yekinni Adeniyi Elegushi, the 20th Oba Elegushi of Ikate land would forever be remembered in the annals of the history of Lagos state, as a ruler who transformed the rural dukedom of ancient Ikateland into a modern royal kingdom.
Oba Yekini Elegushi was a member of Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, and as a first-class Oba who traced his immediate ancestry to late Chief Dauda Fasanya Elegushi who was a member of the old western Region House of Chiefs along with the then Oloja of Ikorodu. He was appointed a Justice of Peace on May 13, 1999, by the State Government. He fought for the creation of Eti-Osa Chieftaincy Committee of the Council, and as a result, he became the first Chairman of that Committee.
The late monarch was a chartered member of the Lions Club, Idi Iroko, Gateway, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Idi Iroko branch, member of Eko Club, Grand Patron Premier Palace Club, Epetedo, Lagos. Eti-Osa Club, Irepodun Club of Eti-Osa, Eko Foundation and many other elite clubs and organizations in Lagos.
A man of warm and gregarious disposition, his extrovert trait led him to claim the paramount obaship status before Mr. Justice Akinbo Savage Commission of Enquiry in 1988. This claim was upheld, and on Februaury 4, 1993, he made another history as the first Oba in Eti-Osa Local Government area, after the mediatization of the staus by the Benin Invaders of Lagos in the Seventeenth Century
