ADAMAWA APC GUBER PRIMARIES: WHY ATIKU'S CANDIDATE, IBRAHIM MIJINYAWA LOST

Atiku Abubakar

It was surprise galore as Senator Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow, who was seen as a minor by many, thrashed Alhaji Ibrahim Mijinyawa, the candidate of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. by polling1,880 votes to clinch the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Like a football match, the game was very dicey, as spectators watched the event with keen interest and bated breadth, as they awaited the final result of the election.

APC supporters in the state according to sources, had hoped for an upset since most of them see Mijinyawa as a man without the charisma of a leader and hoped that someone else picked the ticket.
Even the entry of Chief Kobis Ari Timnu into the race did not change anything as people saw him as trying to play the spoilers role for Mijinyawa to emerge victorious.

In the end, the Katuka Adamawa Chief Kobis could only muster 85 votes, far behind the winner and the runner up Alhaji Mijinyawa, who polled 1183 votes.

Another visitor to the contest was Mamman Tukur who polled just 17 votes.

The event, which took place at the Lamido Cinema Jimeta – Yola, saw the crowds erupting in shouts of sai Bindow, sai Bindow.

In the end, the crowd left satisfied some openly saying the era of money is gone.
The Returning Officer, Alhaji Abubakar Yawe commended the delegates for the mature way and manner they comported themselves.
