ADAMAWA GUBER CANDIDATE, DAHIRU WAZIRI SLUMPS DURING LIVE DEBATE

Alhaji Dahiru Waziri, the gubernatorial candidate of the KOWA Party in Adamawa State for the October 11 election, yesterday slumped at the beginning of a live TV debate on Gotel TV and Radio.

The debate was supposed to be between three candidates, Waziri, Alhaji Adhmadu Umaru Fintiri of the PDP and Dr Amos Sunday of the PPN.

Shortly after all the aspirants were introduced and were standing to commence the debate, Waziri slumped but was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola. Further investigations revealed that Waziri is diabetic.

According to sources from his party, Waziri is a diabetic patient and it took the prompt intervention of the Gotel TV crew that instantly served the candidate with a bottle of soft drink as palliative measure to stabilise him before he was rushed to the medical centre.

Alhaji Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the acting governor of Adamawa state, and the PDP candidate urged the TV stations and the organizers to reschedule the programme for another day when Waziri will be strong enough to participate.

The political debate was a private initiative of TC consult services designed for candidates of the governorship election in the state, preparatory to the October 11 election.

According to the organizers, the programme was designed to fish out the best candidate, assessing the capacity of such person to deliver democracy dividends to the people, determining his courage and attitude for the job of governor of Adamawa State.

The debate committee was drawn from the academia, private sector and members of the media and is intended to be broadcast live on Gotel TV, and Radio, Adamawa State Television and the Adamawa Radio Station.
