FINALLY, GOVERNOR MIMIKO DUMPS LABOUR PARTY FOR PDP

AT last, the governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has decamped from the Labour Party LP to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
Mimiko announced his defection this afternoon at a press conference in Abuja today.
A tested and proven grassroots politician, Mimiko was the first and only gubernatorial candidate to win an election in Nigeria.
Mimiko contested in gubernatorial elections on April 14, 2007, against the incumbent Olusegun

Agagu and lost, according to the result released by the Independent Electoral Commission INEC. He contested this decision at the election tribunal and Agagu lost office on February 23, 2009 following an Appeal Court ruling which cited irregularities in the 2007 election, and was replaced by Mimiko as governor.

In October 2012, Mimiko contested in the gubernatorial election in Ondo State and polled the highest votes.

His defection to PDP is expected to boost President Goodluck Jonathan's chances in the South West, in the forthcoming presidential election.
